Our newest tenant Thornber Energy Ltd is about ready to open its doors to the general public. They have spent the last two weeks testing the tanks and delivering to close friends and family and now they are ready to deliver fuel to the local area.

The offices have been fit to the highest standards by a team of local labourers and using the desgin talents of Mrs June Thornber. The team are excited and raring to go - look out for Thornber Energy tankers around your local area and give them a wave!

Summer 2011

This week's blog has been written to end the Summer session that has been running and to welcome the Winter writing! The night's are getting darker and the air is chilly, this will be my first winter in the UK for a while so I'm preparing myself for the temperatures!

Lots of things happening as usual - the tankers are now ready to roll and have been testing themselves on the roads around Calderdale - has anyone seem them?

We have had some members of the team out meeting friends and locals to spread the word of our plans. I've been busy working with local printers, designers and uniform suppliers to put together the final stages of the business. Everyone is working really hard now to make sure we are reaching our launch date and ready to serve our future customers.

In The Craggs news we now have a holding page up on www.thecraggs.net which gives you an idea of some of the things we have planned for the coming months. Lots more information coming your way about The Business Park soon but for now I am signing off for the Bank Holiday Weekend so enjoy and keep following!

12: What a difference planning permission makes!

Good morning bloggers.....Hope all is well in rainy West Yorkshire or wherever else you may be reading this from. This week has been very exciting - lots of things happening very quickly and getting scarily close to the launch of our first business and the introduction of the second tenant to The Craggs Country Business Park!

With riots in the major cities and massive financial drops in shares and in the European economy this week, I couldnt feel safer tucked up in the rolling hills of Cragg Vale! We started the week with the addition of a new vehicle featured below. If any of you see this vehicle around give us a wave!

Chris Bingham and Michael Brock have been working hard on their ADR course this week and the competition is running high for the LGV theory test results! The Oil tanks are in and the trusty team working at The Craggs have been hiding indoors working on the office interior. Also this week, we had a very successful meeting with the new Thornber Energy staff - everyone is raring to go and looking forward to getting stuck in!

Work continues on the website development for both The Craggs and Thornber Energy, PR and all other exciting things. We had a purchasing trip on Tuesday which has added to the reality of this whole experience. I am now signing off to go on holiday for a week so I'm sure there will be lots to report next week (and catch up on!)

Have a great weekend and keep following! :)

11: Planning Permission GRANTED!!

We are very pleased to announce that we found out this morning that Planning Permission had been appoved for Thornber Energy which is the news we have all been waiting nervously to hear!!

So with the confirmation of planning approval we have had the tanks delivered which came on convoy through Cragg Vale! It was very exciting and all members of staff including other tenants up at The Craggs came out to watch the parade!

So now it's all systems go to get operations moving for our launch. We are busy working with various local companies and printers to ensure we are ready to roll within the next few months. Keep following on twitter, facebook and this blog to see the latest updates. We also now have websites www.thecraggs.net and www.thornberenergy.co.uk which will have holding pages whilst they are being created.

Stay tuned for the next update and well done to all those who worked those extra hours this week - I heard you were rewarded with fish and chips!! yum x

10: Progress 4 months in!

Another week gone by and time for another blog update! This week I am focusing on where we have come from and where we are today. The Video below gives you all an idea of the developments that have happened in just 4 short months, so by this time next year I am sure the place will look un recognisable!

This week we have been un earthing fire places, creating enormous window frames and generally cleaning up - making the whole site look tidy! The sunny weather has definately helped The Craggs shine this week - we have been busy in the Office keeping things moving and planning for the various developing businesses. As promised the Meet the Team blog will appear, one week behind schedule - to keep you all waiting (also so I can get the team caught on camera when the sun is out!)

That's all for this week - enjoy the video and let me know your comments!!

Thanks,

9. Our new tenant settles in and I play with Time Lapse Photography!

Hello everyone hope you have all been enjoying the glorious weather we have had at The Craggs this week!

It's been another productive week, Ive been meeting with HR, PR and Hoo Haa lol (pardon the pun!) Everything is starting to fall into place, however I can tell that things will start to get significantly busier over the next coming weeks!Heidi and Chris have gone off to The Ark's staff weekend away this week so I'm left to man the ship here. The new tenant is settling in nicely and the newly established car park is being used to its full potential. We had a delivery of some HUGE pieces of stone this week which will be a feature at the bottom of the business park.

I've also spent a bit of time playing around with time lapse photography and managed to put an experiment together. Hopefully over the next few months we will have lots of data to put together to give you all a great movie of The Craggs development in 30 seconds.

Next week I'm going to be putting up a meet the team blog so for all those who work at The Craggs - iron your shirts and for those who don't - watch this space!!

8: The Craggs gets ready for its first tennant!!

Hello there! It's been over a week since my last blog so its definitely time for an update! As usual it has been busy busy with lots happening all over the place. As many of you may know we are currently processing Planning Permission for Thornber Energy. Chris held a visitors day last weekend for any local neighbours to come and have a look at whats going on and to ask any questions that may be of concern etc This went really well and lots of points were addressed, the feedback was all really positive so fingers crossed that this process runs smoothly for us. We have also appointed a new financial director in the name of Rachel Denison (I will be doing a meet the team blog sometime next month!)

The two bottom units are well under way now, so much so that we have moved our first tennant in today!! All very exciting stuff as the new unit looks brand spanking new and now we have it being used for business we can all start to see how The Craggs is going to evolve over the next few months.

We also have a car park which has just been created this week, never realised how much concrete was required to do this sort of stuff!! You would never have known that a couple of weeks ago this lovely car park was a big mucky hole - good work guys!

I have been taking a particular interest into Social Media for the past couple of weeks and have been facebooking, blogging, flickring, tweeting and listening in to all sorts of media avenues available on the internet! It has really intrigued me as to how many of us out there are involved in the local network online. Most of the business contacts and people I have met over the past two months have been discovered via twitter or other social media means which is really amazing.

Hopefully as the weather starts to improve we will have some sunnier shots coming through the blog - next week I will be impressing you all with a time lapse photography video so watch out for that but until then have a great weekend and keep following!!

7: Technology hits The Craggs

This week we have a new camera that has been fitted, which is taking regular pictures of a bird's eye view of the site. Hopefully over the next coming months we will be able to create videos on the changing face of The Craggs Country Business Park. This photo slideshow below is a look at whats been going on this week.

In other news, the roof has been fitted to one of the units, which helps with all the rain that has been hitting Cragg Vale this week! It also enables the visitors to envisage how the site might look in the future! The team of local labourers have had the dirty job of clearing out the 'soon to be' car park for the proposed Thornber Energy (subject to planning permission. It involved lots of digging and shovelling in pretty unpleasant conditions so well done to the guys who worked on this!

As well as communicating via the blog, twitter and facebook we have also decided to hold a visitors day where the local neighbours can come and have a look at the work we are doing up at The Craggs - so if you are a local and you are interested in coming to see what all the fuss is about then email me at jessica@cvc-ltd.co.uk! x

6: Thornber Energy

News this week!

We have the name - Thornber Energy and now we have the logo (subject to planning approval)!! We are really happy with this logo as we think it really represents the company and its values. Green Energy! We are still working on The Craggs Logo but it will be coming soon. I've been busy making friends on twitter this week and realising how powerful it can be! We met someone on twitter that was hiding in Sowerby Bridge and if it wasn't for twitter we wouldn't have known they exist! Its brilliant getting to know the local business network and what's happening around the local area.

Other news there has been lots of development on the site - such as new roofing and panels being fitted. The sun finally came out this week so we managed to get a perfect picture of the new roofing!

Let me know via twitter or facebook what you all think of the new logo and any other comments you may have!

Blog 3: Men in White Overalls – be Afraid!

When I returned from my travels, I was lead into a false sense of security by the tropical climate that we had in April. True to form the English weather did not disappoint - this week up on the top of Cragg Vale has been windy!!
Thankfully I am sat inside with a nice cup of tea and a central heating system while the “men” have been out working hard.
After threats were made I unfortunately left my steel cap boots at home J and let everyone else put on the white overalls and work in the rain! This week it was a huge team effort (bar me!) to remove the entire roof from one of the units. This was done with some professional help to ensure all of the old material was correctly disposed of. Fair play to everyone who got out in the wind and the rain it was a dirty job but someone had to do it!
In other news this week, we are meeting the marketing company tomorrow to discuss finalising the logos and names for the various businesses so I’m really excited to see what they have come up with!
We are currently in the process of establishing websites for the business park and once established the blog will be moving to there but in the mean time I would love to hear any questions or opinions you all have on the future development of this place!

2: And then there was ...............man power!

This week a lot has happened up on the site, the place has been changing every day! I’m certainly getting a feel for how this place is going to look when it’s all finished. I’ve put some pictures up so you can all see how the site looks at the moment. There are lots of people working here now moving, digging, driving trucks and cleaning out poultry manure! All the big bulk feeding hoppers came down this week which was quite impressive so now all the buildings are ready to be repaired.

The building at the bottom of the site is going to be called Thornber Energy (subject to Planning approval) which gives Ralph Thornber a platform to delve back into the oil business once more. The house at the top of the road has been sand blasted and the windows have been pushed out so looks really impressive (I’m sure some of you will have noticed it already!). This house is where the main office for the site will be based.
This week we have been flying round to lots of meetings so my brain is definitely seeking more space but it’s all really exciting and I’m learning more and more everyday.
However slightly concerned at Chas asking me to pull on a pair of overalls for all hands on deck on Monday! (!!) So watch out for that update next week!
I now have a facebook group and twitter page called “The Craggs” where I will upload some more pictures and discussions. Let me know if you have any questions about what’s happening!!

1: Everything happens for a reason!

So this is me, Jessica Wild, just returned from 6 months travelling around New Zealand and Australia. I have spent the past 4 years working as a singer and dancer in a variety of countries and have finally returned home to get on with life!

Since recovering from jetlag and various travelling ailments I was approached by a certain Mr Thornber for a new job prospect! He informed me that his daughter (Heidi Bingham) and her husband (Chris Bingham) were going into business together and buying the old Turkey Lodge at Cragg Vale! They were to turn this run down farm into a super duper, brand spanking new business park and wanted me to come on board as PA for them!

So this is where the story begins!! Here you will be able to join me in my journey through this new and exciting development in Cragg Vale. There will be photos and news updates exclusive from the inside of this new enterprise as it grows and develops. I’m sure you have all been driving past and wondering what is going on over here (don’t worry I’m still figuring that out too!)

If you like this blog then you can log on to our twitter and facebook pages where we will have discussions and more photos for you all to get in on the gossip and happenings up on top of the hill in Cragg Vale……………………………….that’s all for now catch you next week!
